SERVICES

Picket Fence Pre-School is open from 7:45 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Please check school calendar for closings listed. Parents must pack a snack and lunch for their child. On Fridays we offer special lunch options.

TEACHING

Depending upon the child's ability to learn, a three-year-old may master counting, recognizing vowels and begin to sound out small words. They will learn about health, safety, manners, and other activities. We teach units on transportation, occupations, countries, and much more.

The more advanced ABEKA material for children is also being taught We acknowledge that each child has a different learning pattern. We try to find children's patterns and take them to their highest learning capabilities. Some children are ready prior to others so we find each child's strength and help them excel in that area. Our goal is to make learning fun for every child!

ILLNESS, INJURY, AND IMMUNIZATIONS

Parents bringing their child to the center should be sure he/she is well. Please do not bring a child to the center if fever, vomiting, or diarrhea is already occurring or has occurred within the last 24 hours.

We will notify the parents immediately if a child develops a fever or shows signs of illness. The child will then be separated from the other children and made as comfortable as possible while waiting for the arrival of their parents. Parents are to pick up their ill child as soon as possible. If a child has had a high temperature of 101 or above, they need to be fever free for 24 hours before returning to daycare. If a child has had vomiting or diarrhea, they need to be symptom free for 24 hours (without symptom reducing medication) prior to returning. Please do not mask a fever with fever reducing medication such as Tylenol, Motrin, etc. In case of an emergency, parents and their designated physician will be notified. ALL CHILDREN WILL NEED THEIR IMMUNIZATIONS UPDATED ON A CONTINUAL BASIS AND MUST HAVE A CURRENT REPORT IN THE CHILD'S FILE.

CLOTHING

Parents will need to send a child’s sleeping bag or stadium size blanket for naptime. We ask that any items brought from home be identified with the child's name. As any child may have an accident, we ask that you bring an extra change of clothes.

The dress code is as follows and applies to all children

This policy may be amended as necessary:

• No shirts or clothing depicting movie heroes or characters that depict violent or aggressive behaviors.

      • No midriff tops or short shorts.

• No sleeveless tops or shirts. (tank tops or tops with spaghetti straps are not allowed)

• No flip-flops or backless shoes (these are dangerous on the playground and stairs.) Tennis shoes are recommended for safety.

• Please wear shorts under dresses for privacy on the playground equipment.

DISCIPLINE

Picket Fence Pre-School wishes to offer each child a pleasant atmosphere in which to interact with other children. Therefore, the center will have definite guidelines for the children's behavior. We cannot allow any child to hurt another person or abuse and destroy property. We instruct each child about behavior as he enters and becomes part of the center. When a child misbehaves, the caregiver will design corrective measures appropriate to the problem behavior, and child's age. Various forms of correction are as follows: sitting on a chair while the other children participate in class, placing heads down on the table, sitting on a chair or standing facing the wall so they may not see the activity.

We notify parents at the end of the day if the problem continues If a parent is uncooperative, unreasonable, or over demanding, we reserve the right to decline or to request withdrawal of any child. If a child knowingly defies a caregiver's instruction and thereby hurts another child or destroys property, we notify the parents so that they may handle the situation. Parents are to help in securing the cooperation of the children and we reserve the right to drop from enrollment any child who will not cooperate with our guidelines.

ADJUSTMENTS

We are hoping that you will continue to remind your child of our procedures at home. Please make it a point to praise all the papers brought home to you. This will help in their adjustments and will show the child that we are working together in their training. Even small children notice conflicts and will take advantage of them if given the opportunity.

IN OUR PROGRAM, WE STRIVE TO FOLLOW THE RULE OF GOD'S ORDER. THE BIBLE STATES THAT GOD IS FIRST, (NUMBER 1 IN COMMAND), FOLLOWED BY MAN, THERE WILL BE NO CONFLICTS OR ARGUMENTS. IF WE FOLLOW GOD'S PLAN, LIFE CAN AND WILL BE EASIER TO LIVE, GAINING RESPECT FROM GOD, WHICH IS OUR GOAL!
